Collaboration with Unis – here we go!

On December 15th Natwest Subject Matter Experts entered the crowded corridors of Lazarski University for the first time. They were there to meet the students, talk about the subjects they are going to deliver and answer their questions. Broadly speaking, they were there to prepare these energetic and knowledge-thriving students for the lectures.

In the assembly hall sits potential; there are mainly students in arts and business economics, students from different countries with the wide perspective we are looking for as a diverse and open community.

While Piotr Kruczewski tells an insightful story of money launderers trying to get ahead of law enforcement agencies, Mikolaj Szczepanski gave us a sneak peek on what it is like to work for Natwest as an Analyst or SME in Financial Crime & Controls.

Both gentlemen are part of our project – Collab with Unis. This project is for the mutual advantage of both Lazarski University and NatWest Poland. NatWest employees are going to teach Lazarski students what financial crime prevention is all about. We will be broadening their horizons, setting their minds to “analysis mode” and hopefully, find those to whom our message appeals most strongly too; signalling potential future employees of Natwest.

The subjects, conducted in English, will entail lectures and seminars. Natwest employees will deliver twelve lectures and six seminars for each of modules for example:

  • Introduction to financial crime prevention
  • Know Your Customer: Due Diligence Journey

The first subject will tell the story of money laundering and terrorist financing throughout the last few decades. It will answer the question of how the financial world tried, and continues to try, to address this phenomena and mitigate the associated risks. Other questions answered will be who is the main artist shaping the anti-money laundering prevention culture? And what drives bank employees in this fight and who holds them responsible for their acts?

Subject two, basing on examples, will bring awareness of financial, legal and reputational risks to our audience. We will walk the students through the management of such risks in the context of cryptocurrencies, politically exposed persons, correspondent banking services etc.

What is our goal here? We want these youngsters to want chase the bad guys, and boy, oh boy, we’re ready to embark on our mission!
